Who's who, all about who we are...

Name: Ian Norton

Location: Underwood, Tas.

Interests/Hobbies: All things reptile, sailing, outback travel, and meeting interesting people.

Likes: Spending time with wife Sylvia, family and grandchildren. The company of soul mates and those who share the love of reptiles. Good food, and helping people reach their potential.

Dislikes: insincerity, environmental vandalism, lemon cake.

Favourite Music: Classical, and most contemporary music including Jazz.

Favourite Movies: Departures, Dances With Wolves, Zulu.

Vocation: Presently, I am semi retired and a serving Alderman on the Launceston City Council,  CEO of Reptile Rescue Inc. Researcher with Reptile Rescue Research Institute. Research Fellow with the Australian Reckettsial Reference Laboratories, Geelong. 1982 Recipient, Churchill Fellow. Manufacturer and distributor of Raptor snake catching equipment. Blogger.

Name: Maria Novy,

Location: Hobart.


Interests/Hobbies: Reptiles and venom research, I’m also a wildlife carer working with devils and wombats, riding my motor bike, a good book, embroidery, and writing.

Likes: My lovely partner and beautiful kids, ALL Animals especially reptiles and spiders (I’m watching one crawling over my laptop as I’m writing this), Science fiction films and books, a good red wine or whisky, writing?????, and Billy Connelly.

Dislikes: Cruelty to animals in any form, our dwindling forests and bushlands, any and all who are against preserving and saving our beautiful environment and I don't like cooking.

Favourite Music: Brian Adams, most Heavy Rock, Nickleback, Linkin Park, INXS, Roxette, Pink Floyd, Meditative drums, and a heck of a lot more in between.
 
Favourite Movies:  All Mad Max films, Underworld, Madagascar, and any animal films, docos, etc, big time wasters, in a good way.

Vocation: I am currently working as the Vet Clinic Co-ordinator for RSPCA Hobart.  I run the Southern Tasmania Snake Management Courses and Reptile Rescue Education Programs. 

Affiliations: Co-founder of Reptile Rescue Inc, Herpetological Society of Tasmania, Founder of Southern Tasmania Reptile Club, member of the Victorian Herpetological Society, member of  the wildlife carers network, DPIPWE Tasmania, also affiliated with Bonorong Wildlife Centre.


Name: Jane Guy

Location: Perth,TAS.


Interests/Hobbies:  Keeping/admiring herp, my wonderful husband and beautiful children, Zumba, typography, digital image manipulation, playing my acoustic steel string Ibanez guitar, property investment and if there's a moment beyond that, I love to paint and draw with my Abrecht Durer watercolour pencils.

Likes: Nature - all of it, looking for snakes with my friends, David Attenborough docos, honesty, clever design, 1920s high fashion, alcohol once the kids are tucked up in bed.

Dislikes: Disrespectfulness, messy clutter including 'bits', time wasting, cruelty, violence, preservatives and other additives in food.

Favourite Music: 80's/90s hard rock, rock, metal, alt rock, Evanescence and Loreena McKennitt.
 

Favourite Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Back to the Future trilogy, Worlds Fastest Indian, National Treasure(s), ummm, and heaps of others.

Vocation: I work part time at the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery and a Graphic Designer, in the Exhibitions department. We produce the material that is seen and read by Museum visitors, actual or virtual. Everything from books, brochures, to exhibition information panels, labels and signage.

Name: Sally Wilson

Location: Newstead, Launceston.


Interests/Hobbies: All things reptile! I love watching movies and the popcorn that accompanies that particular hobby! I love editing programs in my day job at Southern Cross.

Likes: Doing snake displays with my closest friends Ian and Jane.


Dislikes: Dishonesty, people who cause trouble for the sake of it, seafood - except for some types of fish cooked in a restuarant and snake bite!

Favourite Music: Orchestral Film Scores
 

Favourite Movies: Oh there are soooo many! I love Inception, Little Miss Sunshine, Blood Diamond....plus hundreds more!

Vocation: Work at Southern Cross Television as an Editor, making programs and ads and am part of the news crew, doing the camera and audio etc.. for the news. I am also doing a Zoology Degree through the Univeristy of New England in Armidale.

Interests/Hobbies: Sailing, Singing, bush walking,
health and fitness and talking to dogs. Alternative energy to name just a few.

Likes: My maverick husband Ian, time out, band rehearsals and music recording, camping out, landscape gardening. FROGS! Enticing birds into my garden. Living in the bush.


Dislikes: Insincerity, going into town, junk food, the bush fire season and the thought of a pulp mill in the Tamar Valley.
